Dr. Matthew Jung is a Board Certified General Surgeon who specializes in general surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and bariatric surgery. His clinical interests include abdominal hernia, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, diverticulitis, gallbladder disease, gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD), and weight management surgery. Dr. Jung received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (formerly UMDNJ) in Stratford, NJ. He completed his general surgery residency with Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey. He then went on to complete sub-specialty fellowing training in Advanced Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery at Northwell Health–North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY.
Dr. Jung is also a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Association of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Medical Society of the State New York, American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Jung is also a member of One Surgery/Related Surgical Specialties, a large multi specialty surgical consortium that serves the Tristate region. In addition to English, Dr. Jung is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin and speaks Spanish. He is currently affiliated with Catholic Health of Long Island. He joined Surgical Specialists of Greater New York in 2025 and sees patients throughout New York City and Long Island.
